Youth Coaching

Coaches of Manly Vale youth teams are advised to adopt the current FFA National Playing Style & the Game-Training Phase of the 1-4-3-3 formation.

There are many reasons for this, but in terms of overall player development, the 1-4-3-3 system is considered the most suitable formation for teaching younger players the fundamental principles of effective possession-based football.

The Game Training Phase

Here the role of our youth coaches is two-fold:

  • ‘To prepare players for senior football by teaching them to apply functional game skills in a team setting.’
  • ‘To develop tactical awareness and decision-making through a game-related approach to training.’
